Day 1 - Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy
Your cruise begins in Italy at Civitavecchia, the historic seaport and main gateway for Rome. Known as the ‘Eternal City,’ Rome is filled with iconic landmarks that bear testament to its former status as the epicentre of the mighty Roman Empire. Here, you’ll be transferred to your Emerald Cruises luxury yacht to begin your voyage along the glamorous Italian coast.

Day 2 - Porto Ercole, Italy
Amid Italy’s romantic and world-famous Tuscany region, you’ll find Porto Ercole, a laid-back harbour town with a scenic bay dotted with luxury yachts and fishing boats. This stunning historic town is worth exploring for its maze of narrow laneways, stone houses and several important landmarks, which include a series of old fortresses, Forte Filippo, Forte Stella, and La Rocca – built during an era of Spanish domination in the 16th century.

Explore the picturesque harbour village of Porto Ercole, one of the gems of the Monte Argentario peninsula, where colourful fishing boats, Spanish fortresses, and narrow medieval streets reflect centuries of maritime history. Meet your guide at the harbour and begin a leisurely walk through the charming waterfront before entering the historic old town. Stroll past elegant noble residences, picturesque squares, and historic alleyways while learning about the village's fascinating past, including its role during the Spanish period, whose impressive fortifications still dominate the surrounding hills. Along the way, discover the story of the renowned artist Caravaggio, who spent his final days in Porto Ercole and is closely associated with the town. Day 3 - Gaeta, Italy
Set halfway between Naples and Rome, Gaeta is on a headland that juts out into the sea, making for sweeping views up and down the coast. It remains one of the hidden gems of this region and a popular weekend getaway for Italians. As well as its beautiful beach and abundant fresh fish, Gaeta is best known for Montagna Spaccata (Split Mountain), a natural sea grotto and 11th century sanctuary. According to local legend, the miraculous rock split was created when God sent a lightning bolt that formed three giant cracks in the mountain, which dramatically plunges into the sea.

Sperlonga National Archaeological Museum with Tiberius’ Villa (extra expense)

Day 4 - Sorrento - Capri, Italy
The much-loved resort town of Sorrento perched dramatically atop cliffs that overlook the Bay of Naples and boasting stunning views of Mount Vesuvius across the water. An impossibly romantic haven, Sorrento bewitches with its elegant Italian villas, world-class restaurants serving up mouth-watering cuisine and fragrant lemon groves, which contribute to the production of limoncello – famous the world over. Get a glimpse into its storied past as you explore grand cathedrals and palazzos built of warm golden stone, then sit down at a cafe to watch the world go by. Cruise across the strait this evening and overnight to the island of Capri.

Discover Pompeii
Step back in time at Pompeii, one of the world's most remarkable archaeological sites and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where an entire Roman city was preserved beneath volcanic ash for nearly 1,700 years. After tendering ashore, board the local shuttle to the coach departure point before travelling to Pompeii. En route, enjoy views of the Bay of Naples and, weather permitting, a glimpse of Mount Vesuvius. Upon arrival, join a guided walk through the ancient streets, discovering the Forum, Stabian Baths, theatres, elegant villas, and beautifully preserved frescoes and mosaics. Capri from the Sea (extra expense)

The largest and most populated of the Aeolian Islands, Lipari presents a volcanic archipelago set off the coast of Sicily and embedded within the shimmering Tyrrhenian Sea. The gorgeous island scenery comes defined by a rugged coastline, beautiful beaches lapped by crystal line turquoise waters and lush vegetation. Lipari also boasts a charming Old Town, delightful with its quaint streets and traditional houses painted in pastel hues, as well as a 16th- century castle, which reveals panoramic views of the surrounding area.

Vulcano Island by Boat (extra expense)
Experience the captivating wonders of Vulcano Island on this thrilling excursion departing from Lipari's Marina Corta. Meet your guide and board a private motorboat for a scenic journey across the Aeolian archipelago. As you sail towards Vulcano, marvel at the island's volcanic landscape, characterized by its three distinct peaks. Day 8 - Giardini Naxos, Italy
The picturesque seaside town of Giardini Naxos is on the eastern coast of Sicily, Italy. Its sprawling seafront offers stunning views of the Ionian Sea and Mount Etna. The city of Valletta, the capital of Malta, is the smallest city in the European Union and covers just over half a square kilometre (less than 0.2 miles). Built by the Knights of St John in the 16th century, it’s a living testament to the Baroque period, with well-preserved buildings, ornate churches and magnificent fortifications. The city is located on a hilly peninsula, offering breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea. Despite its compact size, Valletta has a vibrant cultural life and regularly hosts lively markets and festivals.

Travel through Malta’s scenic countryside to Mdina, the island’s former capital, perched high on a hill with sweeping views across the island. Considered one of Europe’s finest examples of a fortified city, Mdina’s blend of medieval and baroque architecture reflects its long and storied past. Stroll through the narrow, winding streets as your guide shares 4,000 years of history and introduces you to the city’s highlights. From the bastions, admire panoramic vistas reaching the distant coastline before enjoying some free time to explore independently. Continue by coach to Valletta, Malta’s present-day capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Journey through the diverse landscapes of Malta, where picturesque fishing villages, dramatic coastlines, celebrated wines, and centuries of history combine to showcase the island's unique Mediterranean character. Travel to the charming fishing village of Marsaxlokk, famous for its colourful luzzu boats, traditional harbour, and rich maritime heritage. Continue with a scenic drive to Zurrieq, where you will enjoy spectacular views of the famous Blue Grotto and the rugged coastline, with Filfla Island visible in the distance. Your journey continues through Malta's rural countryside to a local winery, where you will learn about the island's winemaking traditions before enjoying a tasting of selected local wines accompanied by a platter of traditional Maltese delicacies. The final stop is at St. Paul's Islands, where a scenic photo stop offers beautiful coastal views and the opportunity to learn about the island's connection to the shipwreck of St. Paul in 60 AD, an event that played a significant role in Malta's Christian heritage.
