There are various types of visas, including but not limited to, tourist visas, work visas, business visas, student visas, and immigration visas.

If you plan to travel overseas for a holiday or to visit loved ones, a tourist visa is typically required.

Certain countries, like the United States, offer ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) or ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorisation) visa waiver programs. These programs allow citizens from specific countries to travel for up to 90 days without the need for a visa, through an electronic pre-screening process for citizens from visa-exempt countries.

It’s important to note, the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, advises that a tourist visa generally does not permit you to engage in work activities in a foreign country, even if the work is voluntary or unpaid.
