The room stirs with music as belly dancers move through the evening, before the journey carries you towards the ochre cliffs of Dades Valley. Here, in the still, mineral air, you sit with local nomads, sipping wild-herb tea while rust-red rock rises around you in folds. Before Marrakesh, you’ll explore Aït Benhaddou, an earthen clay kasbah standing at the gate of the Sahara and recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then Marrakesh surrounds you with sound and colour: snake charmers, storytellers and acrobats holding court while souks brim with cashmere scarves, woven rugs and the scent of spice hanging in the air.
